My Beating Heart

Encaustic wax and ink on paper

The blood rushes through my veins, thundering in my ears and I imagine my heart beating with colour exploding all around.

This piece is created from layers of hot wax swirled and layered together, then blended with heat. Finally ink is flooded across the surface pouring into the crevices and creases of the textures created by the wax, defining the depths.
